I got into family law through a background of Clinical Psychology which is not your traditional path certainly
um when I went to law school my very first summer out of the gate I was an intern for two Family Court judges and so I sat all summer watching cases come in and out and seeing all the litigants seeing the problems they were grappling with meeting other family law attorneys
um and really getting to know this area family law which was very sympatico with my background in Psychology and I started to do research and writing um
for different family law attorneys all through law school so when I got out I was like family law was a natural fit for me I already had the information on board that I needed to know what to look for what kind of cases I wanted how I thought I could help people and for me psychology and family law they’re both about helping people um and solving problems so to me it was it was a great background even though not your traditional

Volunteerism has been important to me my entire life it’s how I was raised and I have always felt like giving back is a primary goal of mine um
I’ve been a volunteer for many many years in different organizations different nonprofit organizations but one in particular that I’ve been involved with since 2008 is called our house grief support center and it’s a local nonprofit in Los Angeles I started the uh associate board which is like the young professionals board in 2008 that spring and then in 2015 I’ve sat on the board of directors it’s it’s a cause near and dear to my heart um
I’ve really drunk the Kool-Aid as it comes to our house because it fulfills a niche that we really have not had in Los Angeles which is grief support groups for people adults and children who are grieving the death of someone close it’s support groups that are um based on relationship and kind of age specific so it really I think helps to sit across from somebody that’s knows what you’re going through more than anybody else that you could talk to on the street or maybe your friends or family that don’t know exactly the level of grief that you’re you’re um grappling with and don’t know how to even bring up the topic with you so to me it’s a very it’s a cause that I’m passionate about I give back as much as I can with that one and I feel like it’s just a part of you know my professional life personal life and then my volunteer life something that’s critical for me.
